Olden Produce CSA Information
We offer share options that provide you with a wide array of locally grown and produced items. Our produce shares give you a nice supply of vegetables during the 20 week season. If you were to purchase these same items thru grocery stores and bought all of these items individually it would on average cost 22% more through the entire season. This is based on 2011 prices and your savings are likely to grow as prices rise. You not only save, but are getting locally grown, chemical free produce. In exchange for the savings all we ask is that you be advocates for our farm. Educate your friends & neighbors, direct them to where they can find our produce and help us grow and be able to make a living doing what we love.
To be better partners, we want you to understand what sets us apart from store bought and standard chemical based produce production. This will be accomplished by e-mailed newsletters, inserts with yoru produce and family event/work days on the farm. We do not require members to work, but hands-on experience is one of the best ways to learn. We welcome your questions throughout the season as something comes to mind. We also want your feedback to improve and satisfy you, our customers. We can't always promise to implement all your input, but we will always do our best to implement as many ideas and suggestions as we can. Factors such as our current equipment, irrigation, growing conditions, costs, etc.... all factor into every decision. We will encourage you to try new things and at the same time give you the favorites that everyone looks forward to each year. That's the basis behind our CSA philosphy.
Member Expectations: We ask that all of our CSA members are willing to look at each season as a new endeavor and that no 2 growing seasons are exactly the same. We ask that you have an open mind to try new items that you may have never seen before. We ask that you read our weekly newsletter as there are a lot of interesting articles and wonderful recipes in it each week. We ask that you pick up your share each week from your designated pick-up location (all boxes not picked up without prior arrangements will be donated to families in need. No refunds or new boxes will be given). We ask that you try to attend our on the farm activities. We ask that you try to understand that a lot of our produce does not look like what you purchase in a grocery store. We do not wash a lot of our produce before it is put in your boxes. This is to help ensure it's freshness. We do not only harvest our zucchini and squash when it is 6-8 inches long. Large zucchini make great bread. And last but not least, you enjoy all the produce that our farm & our partner farms have provided you. That is it!
What you can expect from us: We promise to do everything we can to ensure a bountiful harvest from our fields. We promise to farm without using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and to not purchase GMO seeds. You can expect a quick response to your questions and concerns. We also will be more than happy to show you our farm and how we grow the products.
