Free Ranged Eggs
Our hens are completely cage free. They are primarily pasture fed, but we do subsidize with an organic laying mix of grains. No harmful antibiotics, steroids or growth hormones are ever given to our girls. They indulge in a healthy diet of greens, bugs, grubs, left over produce, table scraps, and anything else they can get their beaks on. The payback to allowing our chickens to eat like they do is that they produce a brilliant orange yolk due to the higher beta-carotene levels. This diet also produces eggs which have an increased level of Omega-3 fatty acids and lower cholesterol than commercially processed eggs. All eggs are hand gathered and hand washed. Our eggs are unclassified-mixed size which means that you could have a mixture of small, medium, large, and sometimes jumbo or bigger in the carton because we do not grade them. Sometimes you might get an egg with a little staining on the shell after being laid, rest assured that every single egg is scrubbed by human hands with no chemicals so it is completely safe. Actually its proof that it is a real farm egg! Commercially raised hens lay eggs in cages and then the egg rolls down a chute and is then bleached to get the nice white, perfect egg.
We have several different breeds of chickens. The breeds are: Rhode Island Reds, Black Astraloupes, Delawares, Americaunas, Buff Orpingtons, Red Stars, and “Turken” Naked Necks. We love the color that a diverse flock provides and they all have their own personalities.
